❓ Hybrid & Acrylic Sealant Engineering FAQ
Q1: Why is MS Polymer preferred over polyurethane for RV and marine manufacturing?
Polyurethane sealants contain aromatic isocyanates which can degrade and yellow under severe solar UV radiation. CHEMPU MS Polymer contains no isocyanates, has superior color stability without chalking, bonds strongly to unprimed plastics and coated composites, and will not bubble even when applied on damp surfaces in high-humidity climates.
Q2: Can acrylic caulk be used on outdoor window perimeters?
Standard acrylic caulks are water-soluble before curing and have lower movement capacity (±12.5%). They are engineered primarily for interior baseboards, drywall joints, and interior door/window trims. For exterior window perimeters exposed to wind-driven rain and temperature extremes, CHEMPU PU-40 or XYT926 neutral silicone should be specified.
